Answers to At Least Some of Your Questions

Q: Why didn't you tell us sooner?

A: We wanted to wait to make sure that everything was OK.

Q: Was this an accident?

A: No! We knew that we wanted to start a family sooner rather than later, so as soon as we knew we were getting married, we started trying. We're no spring penguins, after all.

Q: When is the baby due?

A: The nominal due date is September 12.

Q: And the wedding is on July 16...so how big will Sarah be then?

A: She's going to be gi-normous! Please start lifting weights now, so you can help carry Sarah around during the hora.

Q: What kind of dress will Sarah wear for the wedding?

A: Whatever she can fit into.

Q: Where will you be going for your honeymoon?

A: The obstetrician, probably. We hope not the delivery room!

Q: How is the pregnancy going so far?

A: Sarah has been pretty tired and nauseated during the first trimester, but she hasn't thrown up in class (yet). We have every indication that the baby is just fine; we've done an amniocentesis, and it came out normal. Ken, meanwhile, intends to get the epidural during the delivery.

Q: Aren't the two of you off skiing right now? Is that such a good idea?

A: We are both in Utah, but only Ken is skiing. Sarah is knitting. Feel free to gossip as much as you want before we get back, so you can get it out of your system.

Q: Will the baby be a boy or a girl?

A: Yes, most likely.

Q: Just how many babies are being born in Sarah's family during 2006?

A: Five, as far as we know. Miriam and Adam had Joseph in January, Amos and Yuki had Eilam in February, and Robert and Tasya are due in May, as are Rebecca and Chris. We expect to be traveling a lot in 2019.

Q: Aren't Veronique and Dave expecting a baby at the same time you are?

A: Veronique's nominal due date is September 14. It will be interesting to see which baby shows up first! Wagering on this matter is prohibited by both U.S. and Canadian law.

Q: Let's see... you're planning a wedding, selling two houses, moving, teaching your courses, doing research AND having a baby all at once? Are you out of your minds?

A: Possibly, but we prefer to think of ourselves as overachievers.

Q: How do the future grandparents feel about all of this?

A: They already like the baby more than they like us.

We hope that answers your questions. See what happened next!
